The rustling, the chewing, the tiny eyes in the attic shadows convinced
David May . Somebody something had moved into his Thalia Gardens home.
May and his wife tried pounding on the walls, hoping the noise might scare
away the new residents. But when Anne May found one interloper scampering
around the family room, it was time to call in the professionals.

Streich, owner of Aggravating Animals Inc. , specializes in evicting
animals, but with a humane touch.
...
Streichs company, based in Southampton County, specializes in the humane
removal of wild animals from attics, vents and crawl spaces.
The animals go into attics to den during breeding season, said Stephanie
Boyles , a wildlife biologist with People for the Ethical Treatment of
Animals. The babies are just being born and will be in the nest for the
next six to eight weeks.
Pat Hayes , owner of Animal Crackers a Virginia Beach company that also
specializes in humane capture, said that March, April and May are his
busiest months.
...
In 1998, PETA sharply criticized his use of leg-hold traps to clear foxes
from the runways at Norfolk International Airport. Afterward, he and
Boyles worked to find more humane methods; hes now on her list of
recommended companies.
Humane methods are very much a new thing in the animal-control business,
she said. Aggravating Animals four trucks and four specialists
averages 25 to 50 calls a day, Streich said.
