Animal lovers will soon have the option of being buried with their furry
friends in New Zealand's first people and pet cemetery.

Auckland Memorial Park says it is the first cemetery in New Zealand to offer
the service. It has set aside a plot on its Silverdale grounds after getting
Ministry of Health clearance.
Park spokeswoman Helen Dillon says it has had many requests from the public
for the pet cemetery.
People and their pets can be cremated, placed in separate urns and buried in
a box together. Headstones could feature pictures of people with their pets
and matching etched eulogies.
Up to three lots of ashes can be buried in one box, including one person and
two pets or two people and their animal. Costs are being determined.
