Capital Area Humane Society executive director Dan Knapp, shown with a poodle

A dollar can make a difference in the life of an abused or neglected animal.
That's the premise of central Ohio area McDonald's restaurants, which are
planning a Dog Rescue Days fund-raising program April 4-17. During that period,
paper doghouse cutouts will be sold for $1 in the restaurants, with all
proceeds benefiting area animal shelters and rescue programs.
Nick Epifano, president of the Central Ohio McDonald's Advertising
Cooperative, said the fund-raiser was organized in response to January news reports
about the Capital Area Humane Society's rescue of 62 abused and neglected
chihuahuas and poodles from a central Ohio residence.
"This is a perfect opportunity to raise awareness," Epifano said.
