Subject: California - Help Stop Breed Profiling by Insurance Companies!
Assembly member Carol Liu has heard your pleas for help with homeowners insurance companies and has introduced AB 2399.
This bill would prohibit homeowners insurance carriers from using blanket dog breed restrictions as justification for refusing coverage or charging unjustly high premiums.
The bill does allow insurance companies to take the dogs breed into account as a factor in determining premiums if it is supported by sound actuarial data on the breed. The bill also allows for a discount to be provided to all dog owners if they can show their dog has passed an objective obedience test like the AKC Canine Good Citizen test.
AB 2399 has been assigned to the Assembly Insurance Committee for review. Show your support now by clicking here to send a letter to the members of the Committee. TAKE ACTION NOW.
Please be sure to include your personal comments in the space provided. If youve been a victim of dog breed profiling by an insurance company, nows your chance to tell your story to the legislators!
Sincerely,
Jill Buckley, Esq.
