AR-News: (Singapore) Caught trying to smuggle in civet cat

A 26-YEAR-OLD Singaporean man was caught trying to smuggle in a civet cat 
from Taiwan.
He hid the animal in a paper box but was nabbed when Immigration and 
Checkpoints Authority officers stopped him last Friday and screened his bags at Changi 
Airport's Terminal 1, said the Agri-Food and Veterinary Authority (AVA) in a 
statement yesterday. 
 The civet cat, an animal believed to have contributed to the outbreak of 
Sars in China, has been put down to prevent any possible spread of disease. 
The case is being investigated by the AVA.
