PUNE: The National Defence Academy (NDA), Khadakwasla, will introduce a
course in environment education, as early as the next academic session.
NDA deputy commandant Air Vice-Marshal P.P. Rajkumar revealed this in
conversation with reporters at a day-long workshop on nature conservation and
environmental amelioration for defence establishments on Monday.
The proposed course at NDA will be based on the University Grants Commission’
s (UGC) guidelines for graduates, said Rohini Joshi, officer incharge, NDA
Nature Club. “Presently, only some cadets learn about the environment at their
hobby club (nature club). But the course, which will commence most possibly in
the next academic year, will be for all cadets. This will help them gain
knowledge of ecology in their formative years,” she said.
