Gail Fulkerson of Spencer owns 21 llamas, four alpacas and a Bactrian camel.
She uses wool from the animals to knit and weave various clothing items and to
craft felt hats. Fulkerson bought her first llama in 1985 and equates owning
them to eating potato chips: "You can't have just one."

Like many animal lovers, Gail Fulkerson loves taking her pets for walks in
the woods. But her biggest baby, Chewie, attracts more attention than either of
her dogs.
"We came across snowmobilers once," she said. "They just stopped and stared.
One said, 'We haven't even been to the bar yet.'"
Chewie, Fulkerson's 1-ton Bactrian camel from Asia, found the snowmobilers
much less interesting than they found him.
Fulkerson, 55, also owns 21 llamas and four alpacas. She uses the wool from
her animals to knit and weave various clothing items and to craft felt hats.
