AR-News: (AU)Mixed reaction to Tas boycott threat

The leader of the Tasmanian Greens says it is not surprising that an
international animal rights group is calling for a boycott of Tasmania
over the use of 1080 poison by the forestry industry.

A member of the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) group,
lead singer of pop group The Pretenders, Chrissie Hynde, says that if
Tasmania will not stop the use of 1080, then tourists should stay away.

Peg Putt says 1080 poison is a cruel way of protecting seedlings from
native fauna.
