Never have I heard so much talk and concern about coyotes killing deer as I 
have this winter.

On the face of things, there is an explosion of coyotes, and they are 
decimating the deer. But as they say in inscrutable parts of the world, 
things are not always as they seem.

Before alarmist talk fosters another bounty proposal (which will be voted 
down, as it always has in the past), a few things bear mentioning.
