Cats Taken To Wild Animal Orphanage

SAN ANTONIO -- Volunteers rescued more than 60 cats Sunday from a Northwest 
Side home that Animal Control officials described as deplorable. 
The cats had been living with an elderly couple who apparently took in cats 
over an extended period of time and who were recently evicted from the home in 
the 5400 block of Timber Trace. 
No longer able to care for the animals, the couple took the cats to the Wild 
Animal Orphanage in northwest Bexar County. 
 
Many of the cats were covered in feces, some were malnourished and others 
couldn't open their eyes, said Carol Asvestas, director of the orphanage.
