BAKER CITY — Although they've been advised by an attorney not to speak about
an investigation into alleged animal abuse at their ranch, Ivan and Karlee
Langley appear anxious to tell their side of the story.
The couple, both 61 years old, say they've been unfairly convicted by media
reports before they've been charged with any crimes by law enforcement
authorities.
The Baker County Sheriff's Department served a search warrant at the couple's
3,700-acre Burnt River Canyon ranch last Monday and evacuated roughly 300
animals — including horses, cows, goats, dogs, cats, emus, ostriches, lamas and
birds — as part of an animal neglect investigation.
The couple was not allowed to remain at their home Monday night while law
enforcement activity continued at the ranch.
