EAST BRUNSWICK -- Torture is one ingredient in Colonel Sanders' "Original
Recipe," say members of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animalswho
were outside Kentucky Fried Chicken on Route 18 South on Sunday, urging
customers to boycott the franchise.
"Burger King and McDonald's have agreed to make changes in most cruel
practices, and also produce veggie burgers amongst their other items,"
said Satya Dosapati of Marlboro, who stood outside KFC with his wife,
Sunanda, and their 10-year-old daughter, Krishna.
...
Outside the KFC, Gelfand, a PETA member for about 11 years, said her
involvement in the organization led to her becoming a vegan.
"My health has improved dramatically, but more than that, I know I'm not a
hypocrite anymore," she said. "My main shift was psychological. I don't
have to close my eyes anymore; I can say I am somewhat compassionate to
other living things."
