AR-News: (US-ca)Santa Monica Councilman Speaks Out

Santa Monica City Councilman and Former Mayor Michael Feinstein arrived on
campus last Friday to give a presentation in Richard Takagaki’s fifth
period Honors Economics class.

Feinstein has been serving on Santa Monica’s City Council since 1996, and
he served as mayor from 2000 to 2002. Along with his duties to the City of
Santa Monica, Feinstein is also a Green Party activist.

Furthermore, Feinstein informed the students about the benefits of being a
vegetarian. Feinstein is a vegan, which means he does not eat meat or
products that come from animals, such as milk, cheese and eggs. He said
that a vegetarian diet is the healthiest one humans can have because of
the hormones that farmers inject into their cattle stock. Feinstein listed
further incentives for becoming a vegetarian, such as the fact that,
despite food and water shortages for humans, great volumes of foodstuffs
are invested in feeding cattle.
