AR-News: (India) MCD forms club for animal lovers

THE Municipal Corporation of Delhi has decided to set up Animal Lovers Club 
to ensure that a humane approach towards animals is promoted in the Capital. 
The Club will also help the MCD’s stray dog sterilisation and immunisation 
programmes and will be involved in activities such as keeping a control on stray 
dogs, their immunisation and sterilisation records, feeding the dogs when 
required, preventing the access of stray animals to open garbage, veterinary care, 
among other things. 
MCD Commissioner Rakesh Mehta, who is also the president of the Society for 
Stray and Canine Birth Control, today announced the creation of Animal Lovers 
Club at the inauguration of dog ambulances by the Corporation. The MCD has 
purchased eight CNG run RTVs ‘‘specially fabricated in to dog friendly animal 
ambulances’’ in order to make Delhi a rabies free city.
