AR-News: (US NC) Surry OKs ban on wild pets

Exotic pets such as the tiger that mauled a Surry County girl in January have 
been banned after a unanimous vote by county commissioners Monday night.

The ordinance forbids owning big cats, venomous reptiles that are not native 
to the area, non-human primates and wolves.

"It's a tough decision for all of us," Commissioner Jim Harrell Jr said. "We 
are sensitive to not being overbearing and having too much government 
regulation.... This is one of those times. It's what's best for the majority."
