There is now justice for a chocolate Labrador who died at the hands of his
owner in West Virginia. The owner became a fugitive of the law. It took
some Hooters employees downtown to help close this case.

Hooters was the end of the line for Hubert Wilmer.

Back in October 2003, Hooters area supervisor Terry Moberly offered Hubert
a management job pending a background check. "His resume was strong. He
had a strong background in restaurant management,” said Moberly.
...
What he uncovered was Hubert's history of dodging West Virginia
authorities, stemming from animal cruelty charges in August 2002. "It was
strange. I thought, 'What's going on here?' I wanted to give him the
benefit of the doubt,” said Moberly.
...
Wilmer was sent back to West Virginia to face charges. "I'm not a person
to do anybody wrong. To treat anybody wrong. So if someone treats
somebody wrong, they deserve to get what they're going to get,” said Moberly.
