Nebraska agricultural, wildlife and conservation groups are calling for
changes in the proposed draft issued by the U.S. Department of Agriculture for the
Conservation Security Program (CSP).
"Under the proposed rule, it seems unlikely any Nebraska producer could or
would want to participate," said Craig Head, Nebraska Farm Bureau's
environmental specialist.
The Conservation Security Program was passed as part of the 2002 Farm Bill.
CSP is a voluntary program that provides financial and technical assistance
to promote conservation and improvement of soil, water, air, energy, plant and
animal life, and other conservation purposes.
