The biggest threat to Canada geese that call the sprawling township home
isn't development encroaching on their habitats.

It's a border collie named Holly.

Her job is to harass the geese until they vacate the township's parks and
lakes, where their droppings create a messy health hazard.

Many suburban communities pay private firms to tackle their goose problem.
But Washington Township appears to be the only municipality in South
Jersey that has its own goose chaser, officials and industry experts said.

"We call her an environmental relocation unit," said Bob Gruber,
Washington Township's chief park ranger, with a laugh.
