Parsonsburg man receives one year jail sentence for animal mutilation charge

SALISBURY -- Shannon Ray Hitchens, the Parsonsburg man accused of breaking 
into the Salisbury Zoo and slashing a baby llama, professed his innocence in 
court Monday before accepting a plea bargain that guaranteed him no more than one 
year in prison. 
"I'm sorry about what happened, but I didn't do it," he said during his 
sentencing in Wicomico County Circuit Court on Monday. "They don't have any 
evidence on me. I didn't do it."
