The Montreal SPCA is trying to find out who snipped off parts of a kitten's 
ears and tail before the tortured feline was dumped on the shelter's doorstep 
yesterday.
Horrified workers discovered a mewling 5-month-old cat wrapped in a towel 
yesterday morning after a man ran into the shelter on Jean Talon St. and mumbled 
incoherently about "a bloody towel outside," then ran away.
Strangely, the towel appeared clean on the outside but the man's clothes were 
splattered with blood, Montreal SPCA director Pierre Barnotti said.
The kitten had the tips of both ears sheared off, a piece of its tail snipped 
and its front claws chopped to the skin, which was bleeding.
"We're very disturbed. This is extreme cruelty," Barnotti said.
"This kitten has an open wound on either side of its head. And it cannot 
stand."
