If you click on the prompt for the article, which was recently posted on ar-news, there is a place for you to make comments. Since this is the university's own paper, it's a good way of sending the university a message. Please try to keep your comments to the point and not be rude or in any way present a bad picture of the AR community. Thanks.

[from Columbia Daily Spectator]In its fight against animal cruelty in medical research, People for theEthical Treatment of Animals filed a complaint against Columbia Universitylast Wednesday. The complaint, directed towards Dr. E. Sander Connolly'swork on baboons, focuses on what PETA believes to be experiments conductedin violation of New York state law. It also more broadly addresses animalcruelty in medical research at Columbia. The complaint is the first complaint filed by PETA against a researchuniversity in over twenty years. It follows several months of controversy, during which PETA sought to draw public attention to animal cruelty inColumbia laboratories and asked the University to amend its policy. PETAfirst became aware of experimental practices in Columbia laboratories whenCatherine Dell Orto, a veterinarian then working as a postdoctoral fellowat Columbia, complained to them about the animals' condition.full
