1.ROLDA Spring Campaign 2004:"GREEN" ROMANIAN STRAY!!!
Starting this spring,we would like to start a "green" campaign to transform
our shelter'garden into a small piece of Heaven for doggies:grass in all
outdoor spaces of kennels for dogs 'running,playing,..., flowers to be
planted in our "Printz-Memorial Garden" and trees-all over the garden!
Each ROLDA block of kennels will have a fenced outdoor space for running and
playing,because giving freedom to dogs we shelter is very important for
dogs'health and behaviour!

Ussually,the animal'lovers are gentle persons,who appreciate the beauty of
nature and also fight for environment as well as for animals in need!
Each animal'lover can send flower'seeds in memory of a lost furry
friend,you'll receive photos with our Memorial garden and your favourite
flower,a "green" delicate thought for your lost dear furry friend...
If I would plant flowers for each stray brutally killed here,than entire
Galatzi will be a "town of flowers",which wouldn't be a bad idea afterall
because
there is one of biggest steel plant from Europe,that still function but its
equipment isn't updated and this steel plant is the reason of big
pollution'problems from Galatzi,the level of polution in water and air is
few hundreds time bigger than the level admitted by international laws.

By helping us to plant a tree,a flower-you'll help our poor doggies(most of
them with lifetime handicaps)feel happy living in a clean ,beautiful
environment ,not in daily misery and the trash from each street'corner!

2.Support Community Program updated and our vets.'photos.
Our support community program is succesful even from begining,many
animal'lovers and especially those peoples of Galatzi,who are happy to care
a furry friend but are too poor to pay vet. bills-show interests and
enthousiasme...

ROLDA is assuring FREE veterinary
treatment,vaccination,deparasitation,sterilisation to every dog brought at
our vets.office plus a collar,leash,ID Tag,...I saw lately many happy
peoples for having support to care their furry friend and it makes me happy
to see happy animals and their adoptive owners!!!!


On photos,you'll see a brunette lady,she is Marilena,the vet. assistant.
The blonde woman is Dr.Gheorghita Ileana a real compassionate vet.,one of
local vets.we are collaborating with.
In photos,you'll also notice a black dog,that dog was hit by a car and
driver didn't have the good sense to step out the car and see if poor dog is
alive or not...The injuried dog was transported  at vet. office .My vets.
annonced me immediatly after dog'condition become stabile and they really
"fight" to make the poor dog survive!

The nightmare of poor furry baby passed but the broken leg(double fracture
at one leg)continue to make "troubles" to vets.In Romania we cannot find
special bandages for broken bones (even in humans'hospitals,this is a
problem)..and my vets. try to improvise a solution to make the wound heal
and stop the poor dog'pain!
Please contact ROLDA for a (LONG) wishlist of needed veterinary items!!!

3.Educative Program in Galatzi'school:
Since 2002, ROLDA continue an intensive educative program that have as main
target educating peoples about respecting another creature'life and
its'rights.We edited hundreds brochures,posters,leaflets about
spay/neuter,fur campaigns,transport of animals,animals at ZOO,animals used
as "models" at Black Sea'littoral.
ROLDA will focus this year on educative campaigns for kids,because they
represent a solid base to change peoples'attitude toward animals in my
country for the future!
I personally discuss with a teacher from Galatzi,who teach a 10 years kids
group'age.She will ask her kids to write a short story about animals,their
furry friends from home or from streets...I'll read all stories and give 4
prizes to best four stories,I'll translate in English all four "awarded"
stories and put them in ROLDA next newsletters...

Any suggestion about this educative program,improuvments,ideas,help for
kids'gifts would be very appreciated!

4.Petition to stop animals abuses and cruelty in Romania.
In January 2004,romanian authorities declared that a draft for an animal
protection law will be voted very soon.This law will reffer only about wild
animals and animals with owners...authorities said that there will be
ANOTHER LAW for strays...I wonder why?!
Those "strays" are not souls ,like animals with owners are?!

Currently there is a law regarding strays,that have as consequences the
"conviction" of street dogs to a sure,unfair death!
This law said:""Street dogs are collected by authorities'catchers,kept in
local shelters(?!) for 14 days ,if nobody (owners or potential persons that
want to adopt them)come to take them/it,those dogs collected from streets
will be euthanasiated".

Local authorities are administrating very few local shelters all over
Romania ,in which are working dog catchers that kill with a cruelty hard to
be described inocents dogs.They did it before and nothing will stop them not
to apply "civilised" methods:killing with sticks,rocks,torture
animals,inject poisson into animals'heart,hanging dogs,...
Dogs from City Hall'shelters are living in tragic conditions,without food
and proper medical care,those dogs are convicted to live more like in prison
all their life,in overpopulated local shelters-if they are lucky enough not
to be killed anyway!
Why nothing can  prevent or stop those atrocities to happen?!Because lack of
a good edited law for animals'protection,with big penalties for those who
brooke the law,for those who abuse in anyway an animal,none animal'lover
from Romania cannot protect  from legally point of view any abused
animal,even if the justice is almost everytime on our furry friends'side!

All slaughters that took place in Romania brooke many national and
international laws(The Universal Declaration of Animal Rights,The
International Animal Protection Regulations,The Humans Rights,...) and
without constant international pressure ,nothing will change here for
animals for real!
