Forest guards in Siliguri on Thursday recovered a 41-inch Royal Bengal tiger
skin, worth over Rs. 200,000 from a local poacher.
The rare tiger skin was seized in an overnight raid at a hotel by a forest
officer posing as a buyer.

The poacher, who was accompanied by a woman and a young child, believed to be
his family, managed to escape.

"The seller told him (forest officer) that I have one tiger paw and tiger
skin, so you can come with me. He took the beat officer with him behind a kiosk
and showed him the skin. The beat officer caught hold of him but he fled away
along with a woman and a child," M.C Biswas, the divisional forest officer,
said.
