WORK bans imposed by wildlife officers may throw the duck hunting season into
chaos.

Officers will refuse to enforce licences, bag limits and other shooting
regulations when the season opens on March 20.
Anti-duck hunting activists have called on Environment Minister John Thwaites
to cancel the season, warning of a bloodbath if wildlife officers are not
present.
Coalition Against Duck Shooting spokesman Laurie Levy said opening weekend
could see a return to the days when he reported pelicans, swans and herons were
regularly shot out of the sky.
"They can't have a season if there are no wildlife officers there, it would
be bloodbath," he said.
"You can't trust shooters, anything would be shot out there."
Sporting Shooters Association of Victoria president Sebastian Ziccone agreed
that without wildlife officers on duty, the opening weekend could be under
threat.
