Fabio Ciappara, founder of Noah's Ark.

Noah's Ark is appealing to the government to deliver on its promises and
support animal organisations which work so hard to curb the problem of strays
roaming the streets.
"Very often these organisations do not necessarily need money but support to
help them in their mission to take in abandoned animals and find them a home,"
Fabio Ciappara, founder of Noah's Ark, said.
Noah's Ark, made up of dedicated animal lovers, has been instrumental in
caring for and collecting animals which are constantly being abandoned in the
north of the island.
However, it has received no help from the government and its appeal for a
plot of land in Mellieha to use as a sanctuary for abandoned animals has fallen
on deaf ears.
Noah's Ark has already roped in the support of architects, surveyors and
builders to advise them and make the buildings structurally safe for the animals.
A veterinary surgeon is also on hand to provide medical assistance and
initiate a neutering programme in this prospective sanctuary - but they need a plot
of land.
"We were also promised help from Mellieha local council but this was never
forthcoming," Mr Ciappara said.
"Animal organisations are doing the government a favour by keeping strays off
the street, yet it is, in turn, doing nothing to help these people," he said.
