It's a dog's life . . . SPCA dog handler Mike Bowden takes care of Big 
George, a great Dane cross which was abandoned at the society's front gate.

The dumping of two dogs at the Dunedin SPCA headquarters in Opoho last week 
was heartless - and against the law. 
Dog handler Mike Bowden said dumping any animal was an offence under the 
Animal Welfare Act. 
"This includes tying a dog to the SPCA's front gate," he said. 
Because there was no information left with the dogs, abandoned at different 
times, the SPCA had to treat them as strays and impound them.
