STILLWATER — It was not easy, but a Stillwater teen succeeded in her quest to
find a new home for the New Jersey Cardinals’ Rally Cow.
Kristin Star Picun is relieved that the 10-month-old bull can graze on a
400-acre farm, owned by Donald Sharp, also of Stillwater.
“I’m very happy we found such a good place,” said Picun. “It felt like a
burden was lifted because the whole situation of finding a home for him was so
stressful.”
A vegetarian, Picun purchased the cow on Jan. 4 for $400 from the owner. “I
love animals and I really got close to Rally Cow,” she said. “I didn’t want to
see anything happen to him so I brought the situation into my own hands so I
could ensure nothing would happen to him.”
Donald Sharp offered his farm after he learned that Picun wanted to adopt the
bull.
Sharp, who is also a vegetarian, keeps 37 cows as pets. Sometimes he lends
them out for breeding purposes. “I don’t sell no heifers to market,” he said. “
I love the animals so much, I can’t part with them.”
Now, Picun’s bull can bask in the sunlight, which is what he was doing on a
recent mild winter afternoon.
