CALLOUS thugs are attacking dogs with nail guns in a sick new trend that has 
shocked animal welfare workers.

Little jack russell-cross Max is the latest victim. 
The three-year-old dog was dumped at a Keysborough animal shelter with a 
7.5cm-long nail embedded in his neck, behind his ear. Veterinarians at the 
Australian Animal Protection Society shelter said the nail could have been there for 
weeks. 
Shelter spokeswoman Sue Thompson said "miracle Max" had cheated death.
