No more wild guesses, indeed
Better late than never -- after a lot of demands from conservationists, 
guessing and reluctantly concluded figures, wildlife experts embarked on the first 
ever comprehensive census of Royal Bengal Tigers inhabiting the world's 
biggest mangrove forest. We must commend both the governments of Bangladesh and 
India for realising the need for such a census, although differences of opinion on 
how to approach it delayed the process. But a major portion of the 
appreciation goes to United Nations Development Programme. For without their support and 
assistance, such a big and complicated project would not have seen the light 
of the day.
