Mr. Robert,
It's the third day of Bucov' catching team working in Campina.
As they declared on TV, they cough 30 dog in each day of Monday and Tuesday, probably the same today.
I succeeded today to take some pictures of their action. The gendarmes were with the catching team all the time and they tried in many ways to forbid me of taking pictures. When I was trying to make a picture inside the car ( in the moment that they were putting a dog inside) all the gendarmes covered it up, one of them even came very close to me and posted in from of the camera and all I could do was to take him a picture.
It was a very big quarrel between animal lovers and the gendarmerie, even the police came later on.
In the end the catching team took all of the dogs from the block because there was nothing to do against gendarmes. The children were sitting on the balcony crying.
The dogs are all tranquilized (shoot) before putting in the car, that's the only way for them to 10-15 dogs in the car, they are all in a cage, one in top of another, very probable for the one who's under to suffocate since he's without power to look for air. That's totally against the law which say that each dog will be alone in a cage.
Dogcatcher in action
Today I organized together with Antonia a protest demonstration in front of the townhall of Campina. Tomorrow morning somebody will go at the townhall to ask permission for making it legal. I believe there will be enough people to sustain the dogs rights, we contacted today lots of people and all of them were very willing to do this. No one from FPCC will take part of the demonstration, I believe Sorina will be the one leading the demonstration.
People who take care of the dogs by feeding them are trying to convince the gendarmery to stop taking the dogs..
I gave numbers to the pictures and I will try to give you some explanation about some of them:
-picture 8, townhall representant, the one which have to join all the time the catching team, signing the documents probably with the number of cough dogs, before the car went to Bucov.
-picture 6, this gendarme just putted himself in front of the camera in the moment that I was trying to take picture inside of the car with all the dogs in.
-picture 5, this gendarme came to tell me that I already took enough pictures and I should stop it.
-picture 3, the dog shooter ( I remember that ~ 2 years ago he learned me how to use the blow-pipe when I visited Bucov'shelter together with Krystyna). now he was threatening me not to take any pictures.
Regards, Bogdan
Mr. Mayor/ Prime Minister,
I am addressing this letter to you to complain about the action against the street dogs taken by the Town Hall of the town Campina.
After the annulment of the contract with the Foundation for the Protection of Street Dogs in Campina-foundation which caught, neutered, vaccined and freed the dogs back in their territories, the Town Hall signed a new contract with a firm in Ploiesti which doesn’t respect the law by severely breaking the rules of catching, transporting, feeding and keeping the dogs. The treatment that they apply to these innocent and harmless doggies is unbelievable and unacceptable and the pictures that have been taken are now on many Romanian and international sites. For example, the Paws Holland foundation expresses its discontent connected with this problem and they will take serious action in support of the animals’ rights and against these illegal and immoral actions.
This firm in Ploiesti catches dogs brutally after sedating them. Then they put about 30 dogs in one small car ones above the others and so the ones that are below usually die because they cannot breathe. This fact is well known and breaks the law. In their shelter at Bucov the conditions are unsatisfactory, the food is not enough and the dogs are kept in conditions that break the law one more time. These doggies that they take are brought up, fed and loved by the people in the communities where they belong. They are neutered so they can’t rise in number. They will die in a few years anyway. They are harmless and they even protect the blocks from thieves. There haven’t been any broken cars and apartments lately. Now that these doggies have been taken, others will replace them. This way the action taken by the Town Hall does nothing but come against the community instead of helping it. Not to mention people’s feelings who are very much attached to these dogs that they have taken care of for years.
These clear proofs of aggressiveness and illegality have been and will keep on being brought into the Romanian and foreign public’s attention as well as in the attention of the institutions that are capable, expected and supposed to take action.
We insistently require that you should study this case and take the measures that need to be taken in order to stop and forbid these illegalities.
Thanking you in advance,
(uw naam, land, evt. emailadres)
