Crews begin to clean up the remains of a barn fire in Damascus that killed 25
horses.
Many of the horses killed in a barn fire early Sunday in Damascus were young
animals; a few were champions recovering from injuries and starting back into
training. Two owners in particular expected greatness from their animals.
"A lot of hope, potential and dreams with these horses were lost," said Dr.
Michael Odian, the veterinarian who cared for many of the horses on the farm.
Investigators combed the charred scene at Summerwind Farm in the 10900 block
of Moxley Road Monday trying to determine the cause of the fire that killed 25
horses that were stabled in a large barn on the property.
