NORTH VANCOUVER - A local ecological and animal rights organization is
lobbying district council to close the Grouse Mountain Refuge for
Endangered Wildlife after two grizzly bears escaped on Monday. Peter
Hamilton of Lifeforce said the break-out of orphaned three-year-old bears
Grinder and Coola could easily have ended in death for the bears and even
for people enjoying the slopes far from the bears' enclosure.
