HILTON HEAD ISLAND: Hospitality association tells hotels and campgrounds to
report 'suspicious' bookings to police.

By Stephanie Ingersoll
Carolina Morning News

Southern hospitality apparently does not extend to protesters.

The Hilton Head Area Hospitality Association sent an e-mail to hundreds of
members Tuesday warning them that G-8 Summit protesters may try to reserve rooms
in the area and asking all hotel and campground operators to notify the FBI
or police of "suspicious" bookings.

The summit will be held June 8 to 10 on Sea Island, Ga., this year. Leaders
from Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Russia the United Kingdom and the
United States are expected to gather to discuss issues such as trade, energy,
health, finance, terrorism and weapons of mass destruction.

Thousands of protesters embracing causes ranging from animal rights to
globalization are expected in Savannah since Sea Island will be off limits. Because
many hotels, RV parks and campgrounds in Georgia have already been booked by
summit participants and support personnel, protesters may set up staging areas
in the Lowcountry.
