***Animal Voices, Toronto's only animal rights/liberation radio program,
airs live every Tuesday 11 am - 12 pm EST at CIUT 89.5 FM or www.ciut.fm .
Tune in for a weekly update and editorial on animal-related news, as well
as engaging interviews with activists and academics.***

This week on Animal Voices, we'll be speaking with Karen Davis, president
of United Poultry Concerns. We'll quiz Karen about the intriguing
document, "How Switzerland Got Rid of Battery Hen Cages." According
upc-online.org, "this 60-page book by Heinzpeter Studer traces the history
of the battery cage in Switzerland from its first installation in 1935,
through the swirls of vehement discussions about the appropriateness of
hen batteries in the 1970s, to the abolition of battery cages in 1991."
Karen will also tell us more about the recent liberation of 44 hens in New
Zealand, as well as her take on the Avian Flu ruckus. Folks interested in
strategy will definitely want to tune into this one...
