BANGKOK (AFP) - American rocker Chrissie Hynde joined animal rights
activists Sunday in a protest to persuade bird flu-hit Thailand to spurn
meat-eating and turn vegetarian.

Wearing her signature cowboy hat, the 52-year-old teamed up with a
campaigner dressed in a chicken suit and a gas mask for the demonstration
outside a Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) outlet in the capital Bangkok.

The pair roared up to the store situated on the capital's teeming Silom
main road in a three-wheeled "tuk tuk" taxi and held up a banner reading
"Stop Avian Flu -- Go Vegetarian".
