VICIOUS dogs are still roaming Victorian streets despite tough new laws
designed to muzzle them.
Life scarred in seconds
More than 1645 dog attacks - or five a day - have been reported in Melbourne
suburbs since January last year.
Thousands more cases of dogs terrorising or biting people and animals have
gone unreported or unrecorded.
The damning figures have prompted calls for all attack dogs other than guard
dogs to be sterilised to wipe out their killer genes.
"We need to breed them out of existence," Lost Dogs Home head Graeme Smith
told the Herald Sun.
"They're in the hands of drug dealers and criminals and all sorts of
riff-raff. The only way to stop that is to stop more being born."
