Subject: FW: I am sending to you words from witness who asked for help.

Dear friends

Our organisation "ZIVOT" (LIFE) received very disturbing letters and phone calls in last month about the situation at private farm in Slavonija-Croatia.
I am sending to you words from witness who asked for help.

"Today I came into a incredible old and obviously deserted building in which about 1000 pigs are dying of hunger for a weeks. I freezed.

The sounds they provide are something horrible. My friend who isn't working with me could not hear me talking even he was standing right next to mean I was shouting! Soon I became speechless.

Pigs, totally mad from hunger thought that we are maybe bringing food and they were running to feeding places which stayed empty for who knows how long. They are skinny, you can't believe it. One of them was trying to rich last piece of wooden door to eat, but it was too high...They eat ones that are dead or dying. More than hundred are dead in last eight (8) days. Horrible sight. Owner is Culibrk and farm is located in Milanovac, Zdenci county.

On the main farm the situation is more or less ok, but on dislocated objects (there are 2 of them)- there is a hell!!!

Situation is difficult to describe with words.

Ally veterinary staff gave or got cancelled from work. State veterinary and sanitation inspection were informed (anonymous) to take a look of the situation and to close the farm that doesn't have prime conditions for farming and it is real "chamber of torture". After a inspection one and only sanction is recommendation that a farm should have a vet service (???). I can't believe it! Is it true that everybody and everything have a price. Name of the farm is changing from month to month and now is "Pigs farm Culibrk" if that is not another lie...

It is not possible to come in without protection and journalists will not be able to come in."

Person who send us this letter was professionally there, but he also ask not to give his name.

We are very strong organisation in our country, but for this we are asking your help, advice or anything. Since 1999 in Croatia there is an Animal Welfare Law which forbid this kind of keeping animals. Our country is strongly trying to become accession country to EU and we think you can use it.
