[from Calgary Sun]

Canadian beef shipments will not be going south of the border to U.S.
fast-food giant Taco Bell's warehouses anytime soon. And that will cost at
least 30 Calgarians their jobs, says local truck operator Ashish Gill.

Gill, of Light Speed Logistics Inc., which has a fleet of 70 rigs, said he
was informed by his clients that the American fast-food giant won't be
taking any more Canadian beef.

He said the reason given was Taco Bell has decided to throw its support
behind U.S. beef producers -- also battered after a case of mad cow
disease was discovered in Washington state last December.

But a Taco Bell spokeswoman said market conditions, not mad cow disease,
was driving this decision.
