AR-News: (US-ca)PAWS receives gem of a boost from Basinger

The animals of Galt's PAWS sanctuary have received a sparkly gift from
their longtime friend, actress Kim Basinger.

Basinger has donated a "large amount" of her personal jewelry collection
to the organization, which houses rescued and retired creatures from
circuses and the entertainment industry, said PAWS director Pat Derby.

The items, including a diamond ring, a diamond bracelet and a pearl
necklace, are to be sold at an auction in April hosted by Christie's in
New York, and all proceeds will benefit the Performing Animal Welfare Society.
