TWO separate animal cruelty cases are due before the courts in Derry in the 
coming weeks, the 'Journal' can reveal.
The revelation comes of the back of a similar case this week which saw a 
Magistrate ban a local man from keeping dogs for a period of three years.
Police and USPCA officials discovered a German Shepherd dog underweight and 
being kept in "atrocious" conditions when they were called to investigate an 
animal cruelty complaint last month at a home in Drumahoe.
The 57-year-old dog owner - who was fined a total of £150 for permitting 
cruelty to an animal and causing unnecessary suffering to an animal - said the dog 
came to him as a stray.
