AR-News: (US FL) Wet Pet Fest

PALATKA
D avid Hubbard has other "normal" pets - a boxer bulldog, a longhaired cat, a 
tank full of fish. But Saturday morning it was a pet named after a Beatle 
that stole the show at Pet Fest 2004. 
The event turned into a wet pet festival -- and not because anyone brought 
angel fish, guppies, betas or gold fish.
Under rainy skies that kept the turnout to an estimated 200 people but failed 
to dampen their enthusiasm, Hubbard won the Most Unusual Pet category with an 
emperor scorpion named Ringo, beating out Shakespeare the goat and Lucky the 
lizard.
As the 18-year-old animal technician at the Putnam County Humane Society 
paraded past the reviewing area with Ringo sitting on top of his hand, at least 
two of the judges flinched and maybe even took a step back.
