A community conservation group from Emerald in central Queensland has won a
national award for its work to save a rare and endangered animal from
extinction.
Numbers of the bridled nail-tailed wallaby, or flashjack, have dramatically
declined in the wild due to feral animals, including foxes and cats, as well as
habitat destruction.
