AR-News: (US-md) Sides Square Off on Bill to Ban Bear Hunt

ANNAPOLIS, Md. - Animal rights activists and state wildlife management
officials are squaring off in Maryland as lawmakers prepare to consider a
bill to block the state's first black bear hunt in 50 years.

"This is our last chance to stop the hunt," Michael Markarian, president
of the Silver Spring-based Fund for Animals, said of a Wednesday hearing.
"This is a bellwether for Maryland."
