LANSING -- Michigan legislation to permit dove hunting will be debated in the
Senate Judiciary Committee Tuesday at noon. The U.S. Sportsmen's Alliance is
urging a strong turnout in the state capitol by state hunters, anglers and
trappers in support of this legislation.
House Bill 5029, often referred to as "the dove hunting bill," will allow the
Michigan Department of Natural Resources to establish a hunting season for
mourning doves.
The Senate committee hearing will be in Room 210 of the Farnum Building, 125
W. Allegan St., in Lansing.
The anti-hunters will try to pack the hearing room on Tuesday," said U.S.
Sportsmen's Alliance Vice President Rob Sexton. "Michigan sportsmen must remain
committed to this issue and turn out to demonstrate their strong support."
