Withrow Park Reward

Increases by $10 000

February 16, 2004. Animal Alliance of Canada is proud to announce that an
additional $10 000 has been offered to the reward leading to the conviction
of the person(s) responsible for the poisoning in Toronto's Withrow Park.
Jamieson Laboratories, Canada's largest manufacturer and distributor of
advanced natural health-care products, has added its name to the list of
groups offering a reward.

 

"We were both saddened and appalled by the Withrow Park incident and
consider it a serious threat to the well-being of our community," says Kevin
Edwards, Vice President of Marketing, Jamieson Laboratories.  "We are
committed to animal welfare and we encourage other organizations to join us
in our commitment."

The reward now stands at over $16 000 which includes the $ 1 000 that the
Animal Alliance pledged last week.

"We hope that this will send a clear and strong message to whomever is
responsible for this horrific crime that society will not tolerate such
actions," says Jacqui Barnes, AAC Director. "The sooner this case can be
solved, the sooner dogs and children can feel safe to return the park,
regrettably it is too late for T-Bone the spaniel who died."

"Animal Alliance's Project Jessie is also making rescue packages available
to those who want to rescue a dog in T-Bone's name," says Shelly Hawley-Yan,
AAC Director and Project Jessie Coordinator. "The package includes a
Certificate of Rescue, an explanation of the program and a photo of a dog or
cat that has been rescued".
