The first export ship of live sheep from the Port of Portland since last
year's ham-feeding incident has gone ahead without disruption.
53,000 sheep were loaded onto the Al Kuwait on Saturday, under the eye of
private security officers and police.
Late last year, shipments from the Victorian port were halted because of
protests by animal welfare activists, which included allegations of sheep feed
being contaminated with ham.
