ENGLEWOOD -- The plans for the Englewood Animal Rescue Sanctuary are moving
forward.
Ron Egoville, the sanctuary's executive director, said the planning and
engineering are moving forward and the next phase will be to submit plans to the
county for permitting approval.
The time frame on when that will happen is unclear.
"We are dealing with zoning changes which require more work," Egoville said.
The sanctuary is slated to be on an 8-acre property at Elm and Stewart
streets where zoning allows animal shelters, even with the proximity to a
neighborhood.
The sanctuary will be a "no kill" facility, which means healthy animals will
not be euthanized and the plans will be vastly different from typical
shelters, Egoville said.
"This will be a campus setting where the animals are not confined and will be
much happier," he said.
