NORTHVILLE — A specially constructed room at Hillside Middle School houses
more than 30 exotic animals, so it’s called the “animal room.”
Discussing an inhabitant of that region, Hillside Assistant Principal Laura
Kelly explained what role Julius Squeezer, the Burmese python, and his pals
play in education.
“If you’re going to teach life science, you need to have life around,” Kelly
said.
Thanks to Hillside science teacher Dwight D. Sieggreen, the 790 students
there get to see, touch and hear wildlife — and preserve endangered frogs, too.
And it doesn’t cost taxpayers a dime.
