[opinon from The Silhouette]

As I write this article, one thought goes through my mind: "Is it wrong to
kill and eat the high-horse that a vegan is sitting on?" Although this
kind of joke could be construed as inappropriate or distasteful, it is a
perception that has never stopped me before, so I will proceed with my
article.

I am writing in response to the article written by Heather Moore on behalf
of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals that was in last week's
Sil. Moore writes that vegan diets are the greatest thing since Spam,
because striking meat from your diet will not only prevent a whole slew of
diseases (ha!) but will also save the lives of thousands of animals every
year that would otherwise live long and fulfilling lives in the wilds of
the world before being eaten by a lion.
...
I'm a big fan of meat, and I will continue to eat meat until the day I
die. No amount of hateful labels, propaganda, or guilt-trips will change
this, and the people of PETA should respect my choice and not try to make
me feel guilty for enjoying a steak or veal cutlet.
