"The Cat Welfare Society of Israel" and "Let the Animals Live" are going to
court on Monday February 16th at 3:00 pm to get an injunction barring the
city of Kfar Saba and the Israel Veterinary Services from trapping and
killing cats. The Israel Veterinary Services has violated its own
regulation by not of giving prior notice before extermination.

We need people to join us to show support for the cats who continue to be
killed. The court is located in the Sharon Center in Kfar Saba.

In addition, supporters are needed to come to the court on Thursday,
February 12 at 8:30 to attend the hearing of Avi Saad, the trapper
suspected of illegally killing the cats he trapped.

Several animal welfare activists -- including the veterinarian for
the SOS organization --were were taken into custody by police in Kfar
Saba for interferring with Saad. Thankfully, the vet was able to convince
police to search Saad's car where they found the still warm bodies of 6
dead cats in garbage bags. Police also found needles and narcotics that
may, by law, only be in the possession of qualified veteriarians. At that
point Saad was also taken into custody. He is now in prison and will be
brought before the judge on Thursday morning for actions against Za'ar
Ba'aley Haim law.

Eti Altman of Let the Animals Live arrived at the police station and
called Rav Pakad Shaul Maimon, the only police officer in Israel
responsible for enforcing the Animal Welfare Law. Maimon hurried
from Jerusalem to the Kfar Saba station and had Saad arrested.

Please continue to send letters of protest to

Ministers of Agriculture sar at moag.gov.il
Minister of Interior sar at moin.gov.il
Mayor of Kfar Saba mayor at ksaba.co.il

 Continue to ask them to:

Protest the cruel behavior of the Israel Veterinary Service and the
 city of Kfar Saba

Change the archaeic rabies law which has been used to justify all
 the killing

Finally and comprehensively implement the oral rabies vaccine
program in every area of Israel

Fund spay/neuter/vaccine programs for strays and organize low-cost
spay/neuter/vaccine programs for pets.

Prohibit the use of commercial exterminators and criminals in animal control.

 Also ask the following questions:

Whose decision was it to hire a private trapper in violation of the
Israel Veterinary Services Regulations?

Was Dr Israel Glass, the chief vet of Kfar Saba, involved with the
 decision to hire Avi Saad?

Who provided Avi Saad with the narcotics in his possesion?

Who directed Avi Saad to kill the cats himself with the narcotics?

thank you
